Welcome to the Infection Prevention and Control area of the website.

The Trust is committed to preventing healthcare associated infections (HCAIs), including MRSA and C difficile. Patient safety is our number one clinical priority and there is a highly active, Trust-wide infection prevention and control programme aimed at reducing infections and minimising risk.
In line with recent national guidance, the Trust is now screening all elective (planned) adult admissions and certain categories of day-case attendees. A large number of emergency admissions are already screened, but the programme will soon be expanded to include all adult emergency admissions.
In line with the National Initiatives, the policy describes how patients attending the hospital (either for a planned elective procedure or as an emergency admission) will be screened for MRSA. Implementation of the policy will be monitored through the Trust Boards Assurance Framework. To view the policy, please click here.
