Industrial Action on 30th November 2011

Image for Industrial Action on 30th November 2011
You may be aware that a number of public sector unions are taking industrial action on 30th November 2011 in response to the Government’s plans to change public sector pensions.
Members of our staff will be involved in the strike on this day so we will have fewer staff working than usual.
We have put plans in place to make sure that we can continue to provide 24/7 urgent, critical, emergency and inpatient care for our patients with the staff who are not involved in the industrial action.

Our Plans

We are cancelling and rescheduling:
  • all routine outpatient appointments due to take place on 30th November
  • all day case operations due to take place on 30th November
  • all planned routine operations due to take place on 30th November
  • all routine community nursing services due to take place on 30th November
  • walk in services, such as X-ray, will also be unavailable at Russells Hall Hospital and Corbett and Guest Outpatient Centres. Blood tests will still be available from Corbett Outpatient Centre, Russells Hall Hospital, and Community Services.
We are contacting patients who are being rescheduled to advise them that their appointment will not go ahead.
We will maintain:
  • Our inpatient care
  • A&E services
  • Maternity services
  • Renal dialysis
  • Urgent and emergency surgery
  • Urgent cancer services
  • Chemotherapy
  • District Nursing for clinically dependant patients
  • Blood tests
