Help for Disability
The Directorate of Adult, Community and Housing Services has a duty to assess the needs of physically disabled children and adults. This is often carried out by an Occupational Therapist within the Disability Services Team.

Integrated Living Team
The team works with younger (16-64 years) people with severe physical impairments.  The team helps by providing improved care and health outcomes, individual choices and action plans for their clients.  The team will help to address all aspects of a client’s life e.g. health, well-being, self esteem, independence, social, leisure and family life and overall quality of life.  The team has built up strong networks with employment and educational services, voluntary and charitable groups as well as health and social care services.

Queens Cross Network
The Network offers individual programmes to people who have physical or sensory disabilities or both.  The building is fully accessible and offers development activities such as arts and crafts, relaxation, gardening, swimming, fishing, home-skills and cookery.

Carers “Peace of Mind” Emergency Card
Many carers worry about what would happen to the person they care for if they themselves could not provide care due to an accident or emergency. This scheme aims to gives you peace of mind that should something happen to you the person you care for will be supported.

Caring with Confidence Training Course
This is a free support program for carers aged 18 and over. Its aim is to help carers build on your strengths and knowledge, share experiences with others, pick up information and hopefully make a positive difference to your life and that of the person you care for.

Crossroads Care Dudley
Crossroads care Dudley can provide a trained carer support worker who takes over from the carer for a few hours so thay can have a break. Help is provided regularly or occasionally.

Dudley Libraries- support for carers and first two 'information buddies'
Many library staff have already completed the Carer Aware course and staff in all 13 libraries are able to guide carers to information on the internet, in the community information section and in the lending stock.  In addition the first two volunteer  'information buddies' are now in place.  . Their remit is help people find information from the Community Information Directory. They will support all library users - including of course carers.  The volunteers are based at Stourbridge Library on Tuesday mornings and Brierley Hill Library on Friday mornings. The public are able to make appointments with them.

First aid, moving and handling training for carers
Crossroads Caring for Carers provide Moving and Handling and/or First Aid training in the home, for family members and friends (carers) providing substantial and regular care for an adult or a child who has a disability, limiting long-term illness, mental health problem, or frailty due to age, and who lives in Birmingham.

Disable persons rail card
If you have a disability that makes travelling by train difficult you might qualify for the Disabled Persons Railcard. The Railcard allows you to get a 1/3 off most rail fares throughout Great Britain. If you're travelling with an adult companion they also can get the same discount - so you can save money for your friends too!
