Information about the service

Respiratory medicine covers all conditions affecting the chest and lungs. The respiratory medicine department is based at Russells Hall Hospital, but also has outpatient clinics at the Corbett and Guest Hospital Outpatient Image of patient taking a lung capacity testCentres.

We have a multi-disciplinary team, including consultants, specialist nurses, physiotheraptists, respiratory physiologists (carry out lung function test) and secretarial support.

One of our principle aims is to work with our colleagues in the community (general practitioners and nurses) to treat as many patients as possible in their own homes.

Specialist clinics include:

  • Lung cancer

  • Tuberculosis

  • Snoring and sleep problems

  • Sarcoidosis

  • Pulmonary firbrosis
